There are entirely mixed view regarding the Uganda National Musicians' Federation. A few musicians have come out to heap praise on its work while a few have come out to say it is just over hyped but nothing is really going on there.
Well, according to certain parties, they have not gained anything from the Uganda National Musicians' Federation so they believe even starting it up was nothing but a waste of time. According to them, only the big name artistes are benefiting from this Federation while up coming musicians who are vying for a place in the industry are still left out and not catered for by the Federation.
We all recall how musicians like Cosign Yenze came out to state that the Federation is unfair because upcoming artistes are being given money as loans expected to be returned while big name musicians (who are already established by the way) are getting big chunks of the money assigned to the Federation by government, not even low loans but as gifting.
Well, a few musicians like Geosteady have come out to downplay all these accusations as he has stated that the Federation is doing its work and it has indeed been helpful to all musicians, upcoming or even established. According to him, everyone has their opinion and no one can take it away from them.
“The federation is working. People that have risen up have done so and those that have not well, that’s that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and no one can take it from them. This is why you will hear someone saying the Federation is useless while another one calls it useful,” he stated.
According to Geosteady, everyone should take what they can handle so if anyone feels like the Federation is too heavy for them, they should leave it to those that can manage it, just like him.
“Everyone has a certain thing they can manage and something they will not be able to manage. If you feel like it is getting heavy on you, walk away and leave us there. As for us, we believe we can handle it all. I mean you can not say the Federation is not doing its work when I feel like it is doing it’s work. Look at me, do I look haggard?” He prompted.
The question is, where does this leave the upcoming or unestablished artistes that are trying to use the Federation as a stepping stone to achieve success in their musical endeavors? Could it be that the Federation really is working for already established musicians? After all, Geosteady is also an already established musician as well.
