Archbishop Kazimba sends warning to parents during the launch of a 16 days Gender Based Violence awareness campaign
    • November 26, 2021 • 3 years ago

The Archbishop of the church of Uganda, Rt. Rev. Dr. Steven Kazimba Mugalu during his speech at the 16Days Gender Based Violence (GBV) awareness campaign launch has sent a warning to parent s and gurdians to be very keen on the upbringing of children and warned them against focusing on the girl child while leaving out the biy child.

"I want to end a warning to our dear parents who are paying more attention to fighting for the rights of the gir child. It is a very good idea but also, these girls are going to grow up and get married to men who were not groomed. The men/boys too need to be guided that women/girls deserve utmost respect." Said Archbishop Kazimba.

He went on to call on the church to get involved in the fight against Gender Based Violence, given they get chance to engage with many people during mass. Kazimba furthermore cautioned parents and gurdians who go into negotiations with people who commit crimes against their children.

"Some parents are funny. You find them trying to negotite with culprits who've raped/defiled and impregneted their children. They're normally given cows, chicken and money. This is wrong! Report the culprits to the law enforcers so the law may tke its action." he added.

There you go. If you know of such parents negotiating with such culpits, please approach them. And also, while we groom the girl child to know about their rights, we should not forget the boy child as well.
