The Crested Cranes are set to face off Algeria later in the night today at 9pm in Miloud Hadefi Stadium - Oran, Algeria for the second leg of the #TotalEnergiesWAFCON2024 qualifiers. The Crested Cranes lost the first leg 2-1 last week on Wednesday; a match that was played at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
This is a must win match for the ladies if they're to brighten up their chances of going to the next round. Interim coach Ayub Khalifa is still positive and optimistic that the team will edge the Algerians, despite the latter having a home advantage.
“We are quite prepared for the game with our mind totally focused on winning." Said Coach Ayub. He noted that despite their victory at Njeru, the Algerians have very heavy legs and his team intends on capitalising on this in the second leg.
“We saw them play and noted that they’re a bit slow and we hope to capitalise on that to see that we win by a good margin. We need to win by more than a goal to go through and we assure that we’ll do just that,” he added
The Crested Cranes will play the winner between Burundi and Ethiopia in case they are able to overcome Algeria later today.
