Earlier this year, Juliana held her first concert in a long eight years on Friday, August 18 at the Kampala Serena Hotel, the same day B2C, alias Kampala Boys, were performing at Freedom City in Kampala.
The B2C Boys announced their concert first, so when Juliana, who happens to be a bigger brand than the newly established B2C soldiers fixed hers on the same day, a section of the public and some music critics interpreted it as sabotage. It was obvious that revelers would choose the legend they had missed so much rather than the new brand that was to be around with various chances of seeing them.
Songstress Juliana Kanyomozi has however finally come out and addressed claims that she scheduled her concert on the same day as B2C’s to sabotage them. She denied these accusations that were dumped on her as she mentioned that she did not intend it in that way.
In a video that has been going viral on social media, the songstress said that she is a fan of Kampala Boys and she didn’t have any ill intentions while setting the date for her concert. She mentioned that she planned the concert for a long time hence she did not just wake up and copy from the B2Cs posters.
She also went ahead to mention that it is not mandatory for one musician to fail for another to rise up so it all depends on producing good music. Juliana went ahead to mention that she is also a fan of the B2C boys so she would never wish them bad.
“Because they said that I saw their poster and decided to announce my concert date. You can’t just wake up and decide to announce a show. It comes after a lot of planning. And people should stop the thinking that for one artiste to succeed, another must first fail. If you are creating good music, you’ll all be liked. You understand. And I love those boys a lot. I’m their fan, I love their music a lot. What I was reading in the news was childish,” she said.
One of her biggest critics was the popular DJ Nimrod, who was also uncomfortable about the fact that she scheduled her concert on the same ay as the B2C boys and moreover, he knew Juliana as a non supportive artiste who never supported other artistes but rather focused on herself alone.
In response to this, Juliana Kanyomozi said for those that know her well enough, they know her to be a supportive partner who is always available to help her colleagues. She mentioned that she never announced all the things she did for all her colleagues so many people would never know how supportive she actually is.
“Anyone who has followed me for a while will tell you that I’m always there for my colleagues. Social media support is not the only form of showing support. There are a lot of things I do for people that you don’t know about. so, I don’t have to explain myself because someone talked. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If he sees me like that, it’s fine. I’m a big fan of Ugandan music. On my playlists, it’s Ugandan music that’s on top. In my car, there are repeats of Ugandan music. I’m patriotic.” She mentioned.
