The Hipipo music awards of this year are going to be held in a bit of an unusual way. The awards will be held online on the 29th of May, 2020.
The platform on which they will be held is the one and only Facebook where a lot of Ugandans reside these days compared to other social networks.
Originally, the awards were supposed to be held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on March 14th but due to a logistical problem with one of the critical suppliers, the event was called off by the CEO Innocent Kawooya in early March.
Well Corona virus was not in Uganda yet by the time of the decision meaning it had nothing to do with the postponement of the event as you might be thinking now.
Voting for the musicians who will take home the awards was started a long time ago in January of this same year when the nominations lists were released by the Hipipo team.

This voting which is done online through Facebook and the Hipipo website was supposed to run from the date the nominations were released (6th Jan) up to the date of the event (14th March) but this has all been extended until the new date of 29th May.
