The 62nd Grammys 2020 start with Tribute to Kobe Bryant

As many artistes prepared for the bigge biggest st night of music, the news about the death of basketball super star came in and many were left in shock, others disregarded the information as fake news. It was only later on that they came to confirm that the Lakers legend had really died.

Lizzo started the show with a powerful opening performance in which she made a tribute to Bryant. “Tonight is for Kobe,” she started. “I’m crying because I love you.”

After Lizzo's performance, Alicia Keys, the Awards host, officially opened the ceremony with heart breaking words. The entire crowd was in somber moods as she spoke. “Here we are together on music’s biggest night, celebrating our artistes that do it best. But to be honest with you we’re all feeling crazy sadness right now, because earlier today, Los Angeles, America, and the whole wide world lost a hero. And we’re literally standing here, heartbroken, in the house that Kobe Bryant built.”

Keys later made a special tribute, singing It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday, alongside the legendary music group Boys 2 men.
