Whereas Davido fans always argue that when it comes to music in the Nigerian industry, he is the greatest but well, so to Wizkid fans. The online battle of who between them is better than the other has been ongoing for a while and it seems to be getting tougher online.
Wizkid and Davido, who happen to be two of Nigeria’s biggest musicians, have conquered social media users across the nation(not even just Nigeria but in different Countries as well) with their online war. The pair started a ‘Cold war' of their own and their online exchange has left netizens divided. Since time immemorial, their fans have always been in argument of who is better than the other so this may not be news as even the two Nigerian Superstars have been considered rivals for the longest time now.
Davido and Wizkid both are huge Superstars and their fan base is well established. Many Nigerian music lovers have been known to either refer to themselves as “Team Wizkid” or “Team Davido”. A fresh verbal conflict has arisen this trend as they have gone ahead to lock horns yet again. It all begun on Monday night after fans on social media platform X (former Twitter) begged Wizkid to release a new song.
His fans claimed that it has been a while before they heard from him and have been missing his music. In response to their pleas, Wizkid posted a video of a man on his knees, begging an unknown woman for a not so holy favor. Wizkid went on to tell his fans that if they beg him like the man in the video, he would gladly release new music.
This particular video has been trending in X for a while considering that the man in the video looks just like Davido. Netizens on X had been stating that it was Davido asking a woman for a not so holy favor online. Davido however has not commented on this video ever since it started circulating, leaving netizens wondering whether it really was him in the video or not.
Well, on Monday night, Davido responded to Wizkid since he had been poked. Davido stated that he refuses to waste his ‘clout' on someone whose music career has just failed only a few years after it was revived.
Netizens online are now at each others throats as they continue to take sides and debate on who if the two Nigerian giants deserves more respect than the other.
Well, leave alone the wealth like some netizens have been using to weigh the two musicians. Some have even gone ahead to use the number of albums each has while others have gone ahead to use the number of following on social media to try and distinguish these two from each other. There have even been polls on who of the two is better than the other!
In my opinion, I believe all those come right after talent. There is no way netizens shall ever be convinced about who is better than the other between Davido and Wizkid. Well, Should they just battle it out on stage and get it over with? I believe a showcase of each musician's talent would be the best way to get over with this debate!
