In Uganda, choosing the ruling party must be the worst decision anyone has to make. Many musicians have lost their careers simply because they have failed to choose the Opposition party, NUP. We have witnessed many musicians that have turned to NRM being ousted and treated like garbage while they perform for revelers on stage.
Sometimes, they are pelted with empty plastic bottles and sometimes they have insults hurled at them. This makes many musicians afraid of picking a Political side and this is the major reason why some prefer neutrality. Well, it seems like Catherine Kusasira has something to say when it comes to NUP supporters ousting musicians that choose the ruling party.
It is no secret that Catherine Kusasira is a well-known supporter of the NRM government, and she was appointed as a Presidential advisor by the President, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Since then, nothing has ever been the same for her. She is however tired of stomaching this so she has come out to address this issue.
Kusasira has now called out the NUP President Bobi Wine to distinguish between politics and music. According to her, Bobi Wine should do something about his unruly supporters since he is on position to control them. According to her, Bobi Wine let’s his supporters harass musicians for their political choices yet he can tame them, something she feels wronged about.
She has therefore asked that his supporters respect everyone else’s political choices instead of victimizing musicians. This has seen her planning to meet physically with him and have a hearty talk on this same issue.
"Bobi Wine should separate politics from music. He should also teach his supporters to distinguish between the two, as music is our business, but some of us have been harassed by his fans," she mentioned in a local television interview.
