The Western tribes must be the most active tribes when it comes to revisiting their roots. There are quite a number of social events that they set up in order to reminisce about their origin. While the Bakiga have the Bakiga Nation, there is also Batooro Kwegonza by the Batooro and also the Iwacu Heza of the Bafumbira from Kisoro, Banyarwanda and people from Burundi.
Yesterday, the “Iwacu Heza" event was at UMA show grounds. Iwacu Heza simply translates to “Our beautiful home". The Bafumbira take the opportunity to delve into their origin, celebrating their culture and remembering who they are.
For this year’s edition, which happened to be the 7th Edition, Uganda’s freestyle rapper Fefe Bussi and Rwandese sensation Element headlined the event. At around 10 pm, Fefe Bussi graced the stage and had revelers screaming at the top of their lungs.
The most interesting bit of the performance was when Fefe was challenged to a rap battle by a gentleman who identified himself as Sir Kisoro. The young lad gave Fefe Bussi quite a show to an extent that he asked Fefe for a collabo, something that Fefe agreed to do as he was not only mesmerized by his talent but also his confidence.
There was a little disturbance when Element stepped on stage at around 11:00 pm, as it threatened to rain. Despite the drizzles however, revelers were unfazed as they went on to dance along to his music.
