BREAKING: State Minister Charles Okello Engola Shot Dead!

The State Minister for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Col (rtd) Charles Okello Engola has been shot dead this morning by his body guard from his home in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb.

The crime scene has been condoned off by security operatives as of now. 

Her senior Minister at Ministry of Gender, Labour  and Social Development Hon. Betty Amongi who is already at his home in Kyanja had this to say!

“This morning, I received sad news that Hon Engola has been shot by his bodyguard and after, shot himself. May his soul rest in peace. That was God’s plan.  We can’t change anything,” Ms Among said.

Engola was last seen speaking yesterday at Labour day celebrations in Namutumba District where he gave a lengthy speech before attendees who included President Museveni. 

Charles Okello Macodwogo Engola, (born October 12, 1958 - May 2, 2023), commonly known as Charles Okello -Engola, was a Ugandan politician and retired Colonel in the Uganda People's Defence Force. He was the State Minister for Defence in the Ugandan Cabinet.

He was born to Chief (Jago) Nasan Engola and Ketula Engola of Awangi, in Iceme, Oyam district.
Charles Okello-Engola was also the grandson of Rwot Olong Adilo, and also great grandson of Rwot Olwa Abelli of Iceme.

He was appointed to the position of minister of state for defense on 6 June 2016, replacing General Jeje Odongo, who was appointed Cabinet Minister of Internal Affairs. He concurrently served as the Member of Parliament representing Oyam North County in the 10th Parliament (2016 - 2021).

He succumbed to his injuries after allegedly being shot on sight by his personal bodyguard.
