Singer turned Politician Bobi Wine’s personal bodyguard Eddie Mutwe and singer Ykee Benda have gotten into a bitter Twitter war over Bobi Wine’s recent speech which he gave during The late Kato Lubwama’s burial. This speech seemed like a simple issue. However, “speech effuse speech".
It seems like Bebe Cool is not the only one that was displeased with Bobi Wine calling musicians beggars but very many musicians were angered by this seemingly simple statement. One of the musicians that was angered the most was none other than Ykee Benda.
Bobi Wine made the speech during Kato Lubwama’s burial where he referred to musicians as beggars from the government. He mentioned that musicians should do away with the vice of begging from the government. Bobi Wine said he has heard the government is going to give musicians money worth 30 billion, something that is not right according to him.
Ykee Benda is one of the angered musicians who addressed the matter on social media. In a post, Ykee stated that no one has the right to call musicians beggars because beggars have no need for lawyers.
As a personal bodyguard however, Eddie Mutwe dived into the battle to defend Bobi Wine branding the musicians as VIP beggars. He said they should stop the act.
“Ykee, You are one of the intelligent Artistes of the young generation that we have today. You can’t be asking the world how beggars need lawyers. Even beggars are protected by laws!. So working with lawyers doesn’t change the fact that u are beggars, only that u are VIP beggars, ” Mutwe said.
Ykee Benda did not stomach his comment because he also responded to Eddie Mutwe saying he should know better because he has worked with a musician and he knows how much he has been earning all along. He then urged Eddie Mutwe to be honest and tell everyone else the truth of the matter.
“Eddie bro, I am humbled by the compliment. But the issue with “beggars “ as a tag is you are using past mistakes / decisions that were made by many before us around 2 to 3 years back. Being someone who worked with an artist , you know all about the revenue Bobi could have gotten from his music that was stolen and this is why we got a serious law firm. I don’t see why you wouldn’t tell the people the truth yet Doctor Hilderman has been in these meetings,” Ykee Benda said
