Galaxy FM, the most popular radio station that supports Ugandan music in Kampala, yesterday became a battle field after they started throwing rotten tomatoes at Juliana in favor of the famous B2C trio. When Juliana suddenly came out and slated her concert on the same day with the B2C boys, it became a problem of National debate as many urged that Juliana was only out to destroy these young singers.
Juliana has since then been accused of being a jealous woman who can not bear to see others succeed but would rather destroy their hard work in order for him to succeed. Ever since the two artistes slated their concerts on the same day, Galaxy has expressively taken sides with B2C.
Recently, their renowned presenter, DJ Nimrod came out and accused Juliana of being selfish and unsupportive towards her fellow artistes. Infact he was disappointed in artists who were pushing for her concert in place of B2C. He mentioned that the music industry was being too soft yet they needed to roughen up and only show support where they are shown support. He mentioned that Juliana never supports or pushed fellow artistes so it is unfair to see other artistes pushing her concert to it's success rather than pushing the B2C boys who always show support for fellow artistes.
News later surfaced that DJ Nimrod had been paid a sum of 1.5 Million by the B2C trio to come out and bad mouth Juliana in a bid to promote their own concert for fear that it could flop on them. As if this wasn’t enough, on the concert day which was Friday, Galaxy FM through their media started prophesying the flop of Juliana’s concert. The concert however turned out to be a huge success as a the tickets sold out and many fans were even left hanging, crying out for tickets.
Regardless of most people reminding the radio station that impartiality is required of them of them as a radio station that promotes Ugandan music, nothing changed the situation that was going on with Galaxy FM. Galaxy kept posting pictures of what was happening at the B2C concert with provocative captions to the Juliana team and to make matters worse, they accused Juliana of giving out free tickets in fear of shame, pretending that they sold out.
What is killing Netizens however is that the media is expected to be neutral but then if it takes sides just like Galaxy FM has done, how shall the music industry of Uganda grow? The channels that are supposed to boost the musicians are now getting involved in the battles between the musicians instead of maintaining neutrality.
