Health workers demand Ministry of Health 350 million shillings.
    • May 6, 2021 • 3 years ago

The health workers in charge of taking care of COVID-19 patients at the Mbale regional referral hospital are demanding the ministry of Health 350 million shillings.

This money is to be given to them in form of salaries and risk allowances of 90,000 Uganda shillings they are supposed to receive everyday.

These workers who wanted to remain anonymous said they have not been paid since last year in March when the country officially started it's battle against the Corona Virus.

Some money had been given to the hospital Management but they claim it was to pay the plumbers who were there to fix the hospital water issues.

The health workers also told us that they do not have equipment to keep them safe yet they are fighting a deadly disease.

"The ministry doesn't give us enough care when we fall sick. We have no accommodation, food or even transportation to the hospital. We are risking our lives and those of the people in the community." One annoymous employee mentioned.

The Ministry of Health has come out to say they are aware of all these complaints and will pay them their money when the Ministry of Finance allocates money to them
