    in summary
President Museveni's daughter Ms. Diana Kyaremera confirms divorce with husband businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu, emphasizes privacy and children's well-being.

Ms. Diana Kyaremera, daughter of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, over the weekedn confirmed the dissolution of her nearly 18-year marriage with businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu. Despite her efforts to maintain privacy, Ms. Kyaremera addressed the public regarding the divorce, citing the need to clarify the situation for her children's sake.

"I have tried to keep my divorce private and out of the public sphere for the sake of my children," Ms Diana Kyaremera stated. "However, I feel the need to clarify now." Accompanying her statement was the presentation of the "Decree Nisi," confirming the legal termination of her marriage, issued in 2022.

Acknowledging the emotional toll of divorce, Ms. Kyaremera emphasized the difficulties, especially when children are involved. She appealed to the public for support during this challenging time.

"I ask that the public continues to pray for my family as we move forward from this difficult time and that you will respect our privacy," she stated.

In 2022, Diana Kyaremera formally applied to NIRA to drop the use of her husband's name, "Kamuntu," expressing her preference to be known as Diana Museveni Kyaremera. Diana, the president's youngest child, serves as the managing director of Museveni family enterprises, overseeing all private ventures of the first family.

Diana Kyaremera and Geoffrey Kamuntu, who married on July 24, 2004, share three children – two boys and one girl. Diana recounted meeting Kamuntu at her sister Natasha Karugire's home and being instantly drawn to his tall and handsome demeanor in a previous interview.

Besides her corporate responsibilities, Diana has also pursued acting, notably portraying the First Lady in the Ugandan film "27 Guns," directed by her sister Natasha Karugire.

Meanwhile, Kamuntu owns a procurement firm specializing in consultancy services for oil exploration companies in the Albertine region, with alleged interests in the Heritage Oil Company.

The soft-spoken daughter of the Ugandan veteran leader in an interview sometime back shared reading the Bible to be one of her deepest fascinations. In there, she revealed coming off as that perfect wife and mother portrayed as ideal in the Bible. Remarking about ways in which getting married and becoming someone's wife significantly changed her life, Gen Museveni's daughter said: "It's a definite change in any woman's life. You take on more responsibility and as the Bible says, you leave your father and mother and cleave to someone new. In my case, it took some adjustment but it's a thrilling journey".

The dissolution of Diana Kyaremera's marriage with Geoffrey Kamuntu marks the end of a nearly two-decade-long partnership, with both parties focusing on their respective endeavors as they navigate this new chapter in their lives.
