Renowned singer and pastor Wilson Bugembe has come public to vent his frustration over comedian Reign for redoing his song dubbed Miracle without his conscent.
It has come to light that the comedian took the liberty of altering the song's message to criticize the government and President Museveni.
Over the years, Reign , one part of the famous comedy duo Maulana and Reign has established himself as a strong supporter of the leading opposition party National Unity Platform (NUP) led by Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
Reign, real name Obedi Lubega has on several occasions criticized how the ruling party, the National Resistance Movement executes its work. He is among the Ugandans who believe President Museveni has ruled the country for so long and there should be change.
The comedian has been the spreading the gospel of change through his funny skits and a couple of weeks ago, he hinted on the possibility of contesting for a political spot in the forthcoming elections.
To make sure that his message that agitates for change touches the hearts of a substantial number of Ugandans, he remade Pastor Bugembe's song but this was done without the knowledge of the man of God.
Hence. Pastor Bugembe wasted no time in distancing himself from this act.
Despite their friendship, he clarified that the comedian never sought his approval to recreate the song.
They never even had a discussion about it. Bugembe revealed that he stumbled upon the politically charged version of his song online. However, the pastor of the Nansana-based church emphasized that he holds no grudges against the comedian.
"I want to make it absolutely clear that I did not give Reign permission to redo my song. Despite our friendship, I did not authorize his actions, and I want to make that clear. I woke up one day and discovered the song online, transformed into a politically motivated piece. Nevertheless, I have no issue with him," he stated firmly.
On the other hand, Reign had a different perspective. He firmly believed that he did not require the Pastor's permission to recreate the song.
According to him, art is a reflection of one's mood, and seeking permission is unnecessary. In fact, he boldly declared that anyone who wishes to remake his songs is welcome to do so.
The comedian also expressed their intention to use their art as a catalyst for revolution. They specifically mentioned that their next song would target the alleged corruption of Hon Mathias Mpuuga.
