Recently, musician Ronald Mayinja concluded his concert dubbed Old is Gold Mayinja at 47 at Kampala Serena Hotel. The event was not only beautifully set up but it was also very successful as it registered a very huge turn up, something that also shocked Mayinja himself.
The event garnered people from all walks of life as many flocked Serena Hotel to show support to Mayinja and vibe to his classics. This is something he was not expecting because of all the controversies that had surrounded his name in the past few years.
At first, Ronald Mayinja lost favor with his fans because of shifting from the red camp to the yellow camp and from he yellow camp right back to the red camp. His decision to leave NUP in the begining sparked intense and harsh debates and criticism from both fans and fellow musicians as many questioned his motives and accused him of betraying the principals he once stood for.
His incosistencies were also an issue and were not welcomed by the public but well, it seems like returning to the red camp did him a great favor.
Even recently, he appeared on the news as he was having land wrangles with his lover, claiming that she was trying to steal his land, to which she responded that he had gifted her with that land and he therefore had no right to take back a gift just because they were splitting up.
The good news is, despite the tremendous drama and the doubts surrounding his brand, Mayinja’s loyal fans showed unwavering support by flocking to his concert in large numbers.
The venue was undoubtedly filled to capacity, and the gates had to be closed earlier than expected to stop more people from scurrying in due to the unexpectedly high turnout. Well, the truth is that this overwhelming response not only surprised Ronald Mayinja but also gave him the best kind of encouragement as he realized he was loved by all of his fans.
Mayinja also never disappointed when he took the stage. He gave a powerful performance for his fans amidst smiles and while he was showered with lots of cash, he confidently made his mark in History.
After the success of Ronald Mayinja's concert, he came out to thank all his fans for their endeavors towards his success. He expressed his utmost gratitude, saying he never expected the huge turn up and seeing all those people attention his concert was the best part in the entire show that night.
