    Faridah Nakazibwe is one of the finest news anchors Uganda has ever had.

    In October last year 2023, reports swirled that celebrated media personality Faridah Nakazibwe had resigned from her job at NTV Uganda where she anchored news and hosted shows for almost 17 years.

    Though Nakazibwe did not publicly comment on her departure from the Nation Media-owned television station, the news was confirmed by her former workmate, Isaac Katende alias Kasuku.

    Her popular show Mwasuze Mutya  was immediately taken up by Ruth Kalibbala, also a seasoned TV and radio host .

    Nakazibwe was born on August 18, 1984, to the late Shakib Ssenyonjo and Sarah Ssenyonjo in Sembabule district which at the time was part of the greater Masaka district found in the central region of Uganda.

     

    Faridah Nakazibwe is the second born of the eight siblings that her parents have as their children.

     She attended Kisozi Boarding Primary School in Gomba district and Bwala Primary School in Masaka before joining Taibah High School in Kawempe.

    After completing her secondary school education, Faridah Nakazibwe joined Islamic University in Uganda which is found in Mbale district located in the Eastern region of Uganda. She later graduated with a degree in Mass Communication.

    It should be noted that during the period leading up to graduation, Nakazibwe got a job at Hotel Brovad in Masaka, which is owned by Hajat Sarah Nabukalu Kiyimba, another family friend.

     Nakazibwe’s media journey started with WBS TV, which was owned by businessman Gordon Wavamunno.

    The evergreen Tv presenter secured the job at WBS through former finance minister Gerald Ssendaula who was friends with Wavamunno. Ssendaula was a family friend, Nakazibwe has said in interviews.

    She has said that she could have lost the opportunity to work with WBS, but she says the recommendation coming from a minister who was friends with the company owner made it hard for the managers to reject her.

    At WBS, she started as a news reporter though she had eyed anchoring.

    A few months into the job, Wavamunno directed her supervisors to assign her the role of giving traffic updates.

    After a year and a half at WBS, NTV launched in Uganda and started hiring. Nakazibwe applied.

    For NTV, Faridah Nakazibwe applied to work as an editor and reporter. She had been with the company since 2006.

    In September 2023, Nakazibwe obtained a Master's in Business Administration from Victoria University.

    Faridah Nakazibwe is the mother of two beautiful daughters whose father is actually an Engineer by profession and he is called Dan Nankunda.

    According to exclusives, the couple met while Faridah Nakazibwe was working at WBS television station which has now currently closed down.

    She later started dating the Vice chairperson of the ruling NRM political party who is called AlHajji Moses Kigongo and their relationship lasted for about a year before it ended in the year 2015.

     Faridah Nakazibwe later got married to another man called Omar Ssali who is a Ugandan gainfully employed in a country found in the Middle East.

    Although she has been off air for months now, Faridah Nakazibwe continues to inspire youths especially girls who are aspiring to become journalists and also plan to work in the media industry.
