I personally never believed that music was not just about talent until I came across fresh female musician Rukoti. Rukoti is a female musician who was born on 11th January 1998 in Isingiro. She likes to refer to herself as a fusion artiste with not just talent but resilience as well.
Rukoti went to school at Bugema Adventist Secondary School and this is where her music journey begun. Bugema as a school was highly known for recognizing talents early on and nurturing them, aside from the Education that they offer. According to Rukoti, she was always taking part in different drama competitions within the school and this is where she won her first merits.
Music has not only been a passion for the young songstress but it also saw her through education at a certain point in her life. As soon as Rukoti joined University, her doors started opening as she was given a chance to sign with a record label which was known as Blackage Record label. The label later rebrands to Runo Concepts and she was with them for a period of 3 years before venturing into a solo career.
Rukoti, in her own words always saw herself as a musician even way back and it is no surprise that she has come this far in the industry. If you are looking for someone who has always believed in herself, Rukoti is definitely the person. For Rukoti, the journey has not been entirely smooth as she has come across a few untrustworthy people but that could never stop her from shining.
The RukotiLove EP
Rukoti's newest EP is dubbed RukotiLove and it consists of Five songs and one poem. The songs are Telephone, Blow, Baby Gukwateko and Ontisa. The poem in this EP is known as lovelost.
When you listen to the songs on this EP, they are oozing with romance, a deep message that has been beautifully crafted by the musician. The first thing that catches your attention is the sound given to these songs (chef's kiss) and while you start by believing that the studio gave these songs a vibrant and yet cheery sound, you get blown away by the deep messages that these songs convey.
As for the poem, only those that have never been in love will be able to hold back the tears it evokes.
In a one on one conversation with Rukoti, I dared to ask her about her inspiration for this EP because I could not help but be mesmerized by each word. This is what she had to say;
“My love life inspired mostly the challenges but also the good moments that you hear me describing in each song. I didn’t know the best way to express it apart from music so I used those inner most feelings with a touch of my soul to express myself.” Rukoti stated.
