FifiDa Queen is currently smiling ear to ear after the High Court in Kampala made the final ruling that Vision Group should pay her millions and issue an apology to her over defamation.
It all started when Bukedde News Paper, on Monday, September 26, 2022, printed and published a headline on the front page titled “Bakutte FifiDa Queen kuby’okubba” accompanied with her picture for reference. Simply translated, the article read that Fifi was arrested for theft. The theft in question was the same saga in which Sipapa was arrested.
FifiDa Queen said these articles were not only false but also baseless and of course she was angry because her clean reputation was being tarnished by these baseless accusations. Keep in mind that she is a journalist, a married woman and a mother at that and this could not do well to her reputation.
In September, Fifi through her lawyers, Mwesigwa Rukutana & Company Advocates issued notice of intention to sue to her once employers, New Vision Printing & Publishing Company. Among her conditions was a public apology on the front page of their paper as well as One Billion Uganda Shillings as compensation for their degrading statements.
Vision Group did not respond to her but straight away decided to battle her in courts of law. Since then, the pair have been battling until October 24 when His Lordship Justice Musa Sekaana convinced the two parties to settle their issues as they seemed never ending. He therefore ordered Bukedde News Paper to run an apology within 7 days and pay Fifi 25 Million in damages.
Congratulations Fifi as justice has been served.
