Very many of the aspirants for the different posts in the forthcoming elections for the Uganda Musician's Association have diverted from the most important cause and have taken the leadership too personally.
A clear example is the former President Cindy Sanyu who is still vying for the Presidency of the association. She is now neck to neck with another aspirant King Saha who seems to have support from very many musicians and most believe he is most likely to replace Cindy Sanyu.
According to many musicians, the presidency has turned into a personal war between many of the aspirants and they are nolonger looking at the bigger picture of promoting the music industry through the association. It is evident that it has turned into a battle of who has more power and money.
Singer Karole Kasita has come out to condemn musicians for diverting from promoting the industry to fighting over leadership of the association.
During an interview with Galaxy FM, Karole Kasita mentioned that she will not participate in this hypocrisy and would rather not vote because many of the aspirants are not sincerely fighting for the association and musicians but rather for themselves.
"I will not vote or take part in the affairs of the association until they are ready to help the industry. Most of them are looking for money from the government, they don't care about us,” she said.
