News has circulated quite fast about the new school that has been constructed by His Excellence President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Tanzania. The school has been named after the president himself and it is called Museveni Primary School( Museveni Shule ya Msingi) located in the district called Chato, Geira region, Tanzania.

Samia Suluhu Hassan the current president of Tanzania said the school cost 1.673million US Dollars to complete. Construction of the school was started on 11th February 2020 and it was completed in February 2021. It is known to be the third and most expensive school built in Tanzania by Museveni.

"I am told the cost is 1.673 million dollars. Chato loves you so much. What you have done to the people of Chato can only be likened to the saying ' Give a fish to someone and they will be healed of hunger for the night but teach them how to fish and they will be healed for their lives.'" she said.

The other two schools were constructed during the reviews of President Benjamin Mkapa and Jakaya Kikwete and one was at Muhutwe Kamachumu while another was at Namiyaga Murongo.

President Museveni says he built these two schools as a token of appreciation for the sacrifices made by the people of Muhutwe and Namiyaga during the 1979 war against President Idi Amin Dada's régime.

"While at Kaboya Military camp, I asked President Mkapa to allow me visit Mzee Zacharia Masudi's home at Muhutwe a place where we planned our war in 1978. I also asked to visit another place near Mutukula boarder. I saw a small two room grass thatched school so I asked brother Mkapa to allow me to build two schools in memory of the sacrifice these people made foe our liberation. This is how those two schools at Muhutwe and Namiyaga were built." He said.

President Museveni went ahead to say that Museveni Primary School was built due to an idea given to him by his brother John Pombe Magufuli and he decided to name it Museveni Primary School.

"He suggested that we build a Primary School and we call it Museveni Primary School. I don't know why!" He said.
